Welcome to the “Ask Nana Anything” site. I am so excited to start this site because my passion is to help parents, children, teachers, and students to learn and grow healthy and happy. My hope for this site is that it will insight suggestions and discussions one parent/teacher to another. I believe that we all can learn from one another and share, grow and help each other live wonderful, happy, enriched lives.
We designed the site with you in mind. Our goal was to offer a platform, so you can ask questions, and share your needs. Remember, you can always, “Ask Nana Anything,” if I do not know the answer I promise you that this community of like minds and experts will work to offer great suggestions and possible tools to consider. We will offer current research and possible solutions and ideas on how to approach items you send to Nana.
My experience and credentials- I have taught early childhood, primary, intermediate and even high school and college prep. I was a Director of a large corporate Day Care when my daughter was a baby and developed the curriculum, observational tools and teacher training for the corporate chain.
I have written textbooks, developmental and observational checklists, guidebooks, tutoring, in person and online training modules and so much more. I have trained thousands of teachers and coaches to improve instruction and classroom success across the U.S. as a corporate Director of Training for the Nation.
Personal Information – I have four children and six grandchildren. I was married, and a single parent with four children to raise on my own. I had a home Day Care with the same seven children for five years that I started when my oldest son turned two.
Education – I attended college in the evenings while raising my children and working. Later, I was awarded a scholarship to attend full time for my last two years while my children and the children in my home Day Care attended Preschool. I have a Master’s Degree in Education with specializations in Early Childhood, Math, Assessment, and Curriculum Development.
How to Use this Site – This site is a bit unusual, we (many seasoned teachers and parents) have contributed to the ideas, materials, and suggestions on this site. We have also included current parents and teachers in the feedback as well as working and stay-at-home Moms and Dads.
Since there are so many parents homeschooling or working with their children to support learning success, we felt that the best way to reach everyone in one place is to include items for home and school. We will label the items, so you know if we created it for Parents and Teachers, Teachers Only or Parents Only. Despite the labels, many items cross over to home and school. Feel free to view anything for Parents or Teachers that you might want to try at home or school.
Our goal is to offer a varied perspective so that you can determine what is best for your home and your classroom even if that is a home classroom.
Please let us know how we are doing and remember to, “Ask Nana Anything.”
